Tissue paper or simply known as tissue is a lightweight paper made from recycled paper pulp. Distributed by K. P. Packaging, is hygienic and has versatile qualities is used in the production of facial tissues, paper napkins, paper towels, and bathroom tissues. Various other uses include making toilet paper and table napkins to name a few.
First Introduced in the 1920’s they have evolved over the years in softness and strength but have not changed in their basic design. Having a variety of alternate uses like cleaning minor wounds, cleaning reading glasses and many more, it is estimated that each person in Western Europe uses 200 tissues in a year. Facial tissues are soft, absorbent and disposable and are usually sold inboxes. Speciality tissues are also produced which are used for wrapping and packaging goods and also for cushioning delicate, fragile items. To enhance the look and aesthetic appeal of the product the name of the manufacturer’s brand is also printed on it.
Tissue paper has played an important role in controlling the spread of infections like swine flu and its importance has been highlighted in the wake of Corona Virus pandemic.
The Government has run a campaign called "Catch it, Bin it, Kill it" to encourage people to use tissue paper to cover their mouths when sneezing or coughing. The use of tissue paper in the transmission of diseases has played a vital role in promoting hygiene in modern society.
